Abstract

The Leighton Irwin Architecture, Building and Planning Library (ABP Library) was named after architect Leighton Irwin, who was director of the Melbourne University Architectural Atelier. It was formerly located on the third floor of the old Architecture and Planning Building (ABP Building), in Masson Road on the Parkville campus. The Leighton Irwin Library was relocated to the second floor of the Eastern Resource Centre of the University of Melbourne prior to the demolition of the old ABP Building.

Notes

The rare collections in the library includes 19th and 20th century material, such as architectural texts, collections of local architects and planners, drawings, sketchbooks and scrapbooks, objects from the University's architectural studios and theses. Material published before 1800 is in the Special Collections at the Baillieu Library.
